Cowman started as a one off joke...I got the idea while I was walking my dog and crossed the street behind someone in a cowboy hat...within seconds I had a comedy routine worked out in my head about how there are no cowmen, only cowboys...within another couple of seconds I realized how horrible said 'comedy' bit really was but then it seemed like a pretty good name for a superhero. So I made this cartoon...with barely any actual animation at all, meant to be a cartoony version of the early Marvel animated series, back in the 60's when the Hulk was ever lovin.'
Since it was only intended to be a one off I really didn't care if it made any sense at all...I just wanted it to be funny and really pushed myself to make even the stand alone drawings as funny as I could, which I soon realized was something I should push myself to do more often, and I like to think I have in the years since. As pointless and ridiculous as the whole idea was I fell in love with the character and couldn't help thinking of actual adventures and mundane situations to send him out on...so for the passed year, whenever I needed a break from "The Case of the Midnight Murderer," another project that's been eating most of my time, I drew new Cowman adventures, and finally I'm ready to start sharing them. The plan's to post twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursday...if I miss a day or two now and then cut me some slack folks, I'm only one man. I'll also be posting some concept art and other cool stuff here and there related to the comic. For starters, here's the original Cowman cartoon that started it all!
